Get Behind Me Satan

“Get Behind Me Satan”

Greetings to all my brothers and sisters in Christ,

Matthew 16:22-23 says; “Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. ‘Never, Lord! he said. This shall never happen to you!’ Jesus turned and said to Peter, ‘GET BEHIND ME, SATAN!” YOU ARE A STUMBLING BLOCK TO ME; YOU DO NOT HAVE IN MIND THE THINGS OF GOD, BUT THE THINGS OF MEN.’”

Can you imagine taking Jesus, (God in the flesh) aside and rebuking him. That’s what Peter did. Even though Peter had a revelation from God that Jesus was the son of the living God a few verses earlier. Peter forsook God’s perspective and evaluated the situation from a human one. Satan is always trying to get us to leave God out of the picture. In verse 23 Jesus says; “you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of man.”

To have a right relationship with God we must be willing to surrender to his plan for our life, not what we think his plan for our life should be.

In Matthew 16:24-26 it says; “Then Jesus said to his disciples, If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will ï¬?nd it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?”

The way of God is not always the easy and convenient way. It isn’t always comfortable but it is awesome. God doesn’t want part of our life, he wants all of it. He is looking for those who are going to be totally committed to Him in good times and challenging times. Jesus told Peter that he was going to suffer and die on the cross because that was God the father’s will for him. Jesus didn’t live for God by his emotions, but by his faith and convictions. It didn’t feel good to go the way of the cross, but it was the way of God.

Matthew 7:13-14 says; “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few ï¬?nd it.” Don’t let Satan get you to leave God out of the picture. Keep God in the picture of your life in every decision you make. The life of a Christian is not always a comfortable life, but it is always an awesome life!

Life is short, then we get to go to Heaven!

Chris Chloupek
