Let’s Get This Party Started!

David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the LORD with all his might, while he and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets. (2 Samuel 6:14-15)

The ark of God was Israel’s national treasure and was ordinarily kept in the tabernacle. When the ark was returned to Israel after a brief Philistine captivity (1 Samuel 4:1-7:2), it was kept in Abinadab’s home for 20 years. David saw how God blessed Abinadab, and he wanted to bring the ark to Jerusalem to ensure God’s blessing on the entire nation. We as disciples of Jesus know what it is to have God’s blessings in our lives and in His church. 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 says, “Now the Lord is Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” David danced with all his might as he brought back the ark of God because he knew God’s ever increasing glory was with him. We as disciples experience God’s ever increasing glory every time we meet together as a body of Christ to worship our God and fellowship with one another. Next week many of us will be attending the Jubilee entitled, “Declare His Glory among the Nations”. Be asking God to prepare your hearts to be moved, inspired, challenged and encouraged by the powerful men and women that will be speaking at the Jubilee. It is truly amazing what our God is doing in our congregations around the world! Be ready to celebrate in your heart like David did! (more…)
