Does God exist? This is an age-old question that has been debated for thousands of years. For those who are students of academia, this question can be presented from a variety of philosophical, theological or scientific arenas, yet the question of how this relates to the everyday “Joe” can be lost in the grandiloquence of the “educated.” My name is Andrew Smellie, and I serve as the Evangelist for the Washington, DC International Christian Church. I graduated from the pre-medical program at Cornell University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Biology and completed a Masters degree in Health Administration at Cornell before God called me into training for the ministry.
It is my prayer that this article will inspire the new college freshman (overwhelmed by the theory of “macro-evolution”) to the elderly cynic that may be too prideful and scared to admit their life was never ultimately in their control. While I have a science background, I do not claim to be an expert of these issues. My convictions – like yours – are based on my own conclusions from the evidence. My aim is to impart a spiritual and a scientific explanation for you to make an informed decision – the goal being that your faith will be increased and you will be able to share your faith more effectively with others who are most likely confused about these topics as well. For the purposes of this brief article, let’s examine four key evidences behind the existence of God in simple terms.
